Summer Haircare 101

Here we are in the middle of summer, and Dimension A Salon already is seeing the damaging effects that the sun does to the hair. You know the signs. Your hair becomes drier, the color becomes washed-out (remember how much it cost for that hair color), and the ends split as well as frizz more.  So what is a gal to do when spending the days catching rays by the pool, at the beach, or exploring the trails?  Begin by investing in a modern UV hat, or UV headscarf, and wrap your hair up in it.  Simple right? Now, we hear you when you proclaim ugh to hats or a headscarf, so another alternative is to purchase sunscreen hair care products.  Those products have to be reapplied just as frequently as you would reapply sunscreen to your skin (you do this don't you?).  Yet quality sunscreen for the hair is not easy to find, so we also recommend taking some of your favorite sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher), and dilute it with water to spray on your hair while luxuriating in those rays. Just buy a spray bottle, and use one forth sunscreen to three forth water.  Be sure to shake prior to each spraying, and do spray regularly while luxuriating.

One last thing, swimming pools can wreak havoc with your hair too.  Whether it's salt or chlorine, apply a layer of hair conditioner (we recommend Kur treatment conditioner) prior to plunging in. First, spray down or wet your hair. Next, apply conditioner from ends to scalp, and jump in. When done swimming, playing in the ocean or any other type of water, be sure to thoroughly rinse your hair.  If no outdoor shower(s) exist, plan on packing a couple liter bottles of inexpensive soda water (the large bubble type) to pour over your hair because those bubbles will help knockdown the left behind gunk. There you go.  Now go get yourself some more summer, and checkout our weekday service menu for some scrumptious bundled service packages.  Until next time, remember to always keep your hair looking healthy and shiny.

Hair Color, Summer, and Vacations

So here is summer, and you either have just returned from your most fav vacation spot; or you're soon to depart.  Your most delicious summer hair color is either happening right now, or your still waiting for it to happen.  What to do?  Lets first start with those that have just returned from vaca, and you want to continue modeling that brighter hair color.  Advice, go see a professional hair colorist, and vocalize that what you have happening right now is what you want to continue modeling.  In a nutshell, you have to state what you want. However, avoid taking matters into your own hands.  Trying to be your own beauty fantastic because of some alleged advertising claim that leaves out details, might not surrender to you what you want. In fact, it could touch you down in hair color correction land.  Now, that's one ugly place to land.

For you hair color fans that are soon to depart on your vaca, here is a tip. Wait until you get back to color your hair.  Spending your money on coloring your hair before your sun frolicking trip is no different than burning money in an ashtray.  Why? It's because your colored hair will become sun-kissed from the sun.  Ah, the devil disguised. Now, this is not to say that you should go vacationing with those 2" exposed. Should that be the case, do go have at least a mini something to tie you over.  However though, you maybe actually in the perfect driver's seat because a deeper root that drifts down the hair shaft paler to ends looking like beach surf is this years hot blonde hair color look. It's like almost getting your favorite summer hair color for free.

Call on us to schedule your next hair color appointment as we are all about gorgeous hair color.

Could Your Hair Color Be Affecting How Much You Earn?

Well, yes!  According to a 2010 study, researchers learned that women with blonde hair color earn seven percent more than women with brunette hair color.  Moreover, career fields were found to not be the factor.  What the study hinted at, was the overt interplay of fair colored hair equating to beauty.  Women with blonde hair were seemingly discerned as being more self-assured, good-looking, influential, and even seen as more productive.  Hum....  So what does this bespeak?  It hints at how a chic signature appearance compliments a woman's winning image for today's pubic reception.  The old saying that one should never judge a book by its cover still holds fast, but research again and again draws attention to the notion that preconceived perceptions for what is beautiful always wins.  Your haircut, and hair color speak volumes about you. It's your exterior upper hand resume.  See us to recast your signature appearance for today's two-dimensional values, and possibly discover some outward discreet benefits as well.
